Everybody knows you need to take in fewer calories than you burn if you want to lose weight.
And yet, almost 70% of the population of the United States is overweight, according to the NIH.
So how come everybody knows how to lose weight, but only few people actually succeed in losing weight?
The difference between people who succeed in losing weight and people who fail lies in their approach and attitude, not in their knowledge.
That’s why I’ll give you those 5 key concepts that will help you lose weight and keep it off long-term.
#1 Make Sure You Stay Motivated

Weight loss is easy and doesn’t take that long. What are weeks or in hard cases months of dieting compared to a lifetime of obesity and unhappiness?
Any weight loss tips that tell you otherwise are wrong.
But here’s the kicker: You need to stay motivated!
This is absolutely imperative.
When you have enough motivation, everything is possible. You just need to want it.
My advice for you:
1. Look at photos of people whose body you would like to have.
How can you succeed at anything if you have no goals? Consequently, take a look at other people’s physiques you would like to have. This will give you a clear picture in your head of what you want to look like.
2. Watch motivational workout videos on Youtube
I greatly recommend Steve Cook’s videos for example. He has a great physique. And he seems to be a great guy as well, with a very positive personality.
3. Take pictures of yourself on a regular basis
Taking pictures of yourself will help you see the progress you’ve made.
Seeing how far you’ve come can be extremely motivating.
There are lots of fitness transformations on Youtube. You could be next.
Take a look at this lifter, for example. His name is Joe Delaney. He’s a lifter from the UK. Check out his channel, subscribe, and support him. I’m a big fan myself.
#2 Change Your Habits
The great Jim Rohn said:
“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.”
This is so true. Make sure you stay motivated. But you need to change your habits.
In order to lose weight, you need to change your habits.
First and foremost: If you tend to skip your breakfast, get into the habit of making yourself a great breakfast each and every morning.
Quickly gulping down a donut and washing it all down with a cup of coffee doesn’t count as a great breakfast.
Eat a quality source of protein along with something that has plenty to fiber to keep you full for the day and keep your blood sugar stable throughout the day.
Try some egg omelette with vegetables. Just fry the vegetables in some olive oil and add a couple of eggs or some lean meat.
#3 Work Out Daily

Now, before you start to panick, let me clarify: There is no need to spend hours at the gym everyday.
All you need to do is get into the habit of exercising daily. This could even be a 30 minute fast walk around block.
However, do try to carve out 30 – 45 minutes each day to move and get some exercise.
Studies have shown that exercise is your best friend when it comes to preventing diabetes and regulating your insulin response.
Besides, exercise will make you feel great because your body releases endorphins. And in turn, when you feel good, you’re much less likely to gorge yourself on junk food in order to make you feel “good”.
#4 Don’t Drink Your Calories
This should be a no-brainer.
- Don’t drink your calories.
- No soft drinks. Also, avoid diet sodas.
- Try and reduce the amount of beer you consume.
If you must drink, stick with wine (preferably dry red or white) or liquor (such as whiskey). However, do try your best to avoid them. That is because they are empty calories that do not fill you up.
While alohol doesn’t directly make you fat, studies have shown that alcohol blunts lipoyisis. This simply means, that when you ingest alcohol, your body stops burning fat. Hence, consuming alcohol in moderation isn’t a problem when you lean. If you want to lose fat, I would recommend you stay away from alcohol, though.
Instead, drink water and lots of it. There is simply no better drink than water.
Tea and black coffee are also fine.
As an added bonus, your teeth will thank you as well. Soft drinks have been shown to damage your teeth’s enamel and make you more prone to cavities.
We don’t want that. Thankfully, I have never had a cavity in my entire life and I’m very grateful for that. Cavities and dental problems are a pain in the butt and can be quite costly.
But for now, remember not to drink your calories. Ditch the soft drinks and go for some water.
#5 Don’t Eat Processed Food
This is a biggie: Only eat natural foods and avoid the processed stuff.
Eat lean meats and vegetables. Then there’s no need to restrict yourself. You can eat until you are full and completely satisfied.
Your body actually gets the nutrients it needs. Therefore you won’t be hungry all day or crave junk food.
What is more, your energy will rise and you will feel fantastic.
Inferior food puts you in a bad state of mind.
Depression and lack of energy are often the result of a poor diet.
In turn, if you feel lethargic and down, you won’t have the motivation to workout or stick to your diet.
Therefor, eating quality food (lean meats and vegetables, some fruit) will leave you feeling awesome and ready to take on the world.
You will see the fat melt off your body and you will lose weight faster than ever before.
As an added bonus, the increase in dietary protein will also help you build muscle while you burn fat.
#6 Bonus Weight Loss Tip:
Here at MuscleWealthFitness.com you get more than you thought you would get. That’s why here’s an extra bonus tip for you.
Be kind to yourself. Love yourself and don’t be to hard on yourself.
We treat others kindly and with respect. And yet too often, we’re quite harsh with ourselves.
Treat others kindly, but also treat yourself kindly.
Give yourself a break.
Love yourself. Because if you don’t, who else will? (Except for God, but you know what I mean).
If you screwed up your diet today, don’t beat yourself up. Instead, focus on doing well tomorrow. You’re ok.
Remember: We’re all gonna make it.
Screwing up one day doesn’t matter if you do well on the other days.
